How to fix Usbehci.sys error on reinstall XPp

Hi. I keep getting a Usbehci.sys error when reinstalling XPpro and cannot continue. Doing the reinstall in response to the current installed copy XPpro that suddenly started having msg demanding i register with MS before i could log on. Did virus scan. Tested RAM and HD using pro diagnostics. Both ok.
Can run miniXP and tests off H...n's boot disc ok.

Well noone had any help for me...but i finally figured it out!!!
For anyone else, heres how to fix it.
-Get a bootable copy of miniXP
-Put a good file shreader prog on a mem stick
-Use miniXP to access Windows folder on primary drive
-Shread every Win update
-Remove all discs and the stick
-Reboot into safe mode(without networking)
-Reset to earliest System Restore point.
-Turn off xp auto update function
-Search for any remaining update you may have missed and shred them
-PRESTO! all fixed
Never update again from internet, only from saved downloads that have been tested by a pro to be clean. I suspect MS sends bugs to disable pcs during the update process if it detects unregistered copy of XP, especially SP3! Can anyone confirm this??

 

Neither of my two XP home OS's are registered with Microsoft, currently updated to SP3, and are running fine with no ill effects from updates. Just downloaded todays update and all is well! Registration is voluntary and activation isn't. Are you confusing the two?
