Right now I have win98 se. I am about to install windows XP Pro with sp1-a. Do I just put in the xp disc or do I need to format my hard drive first? If so how do I format it? If not is there any special I have to do? As always thanks in advance. BanC

There are several ways to do this and none of them are wrong. You can use a Win98 boot floppy and format your drive, or you can just stick in the XP CD. After checking your installation, it will give you the option to install as an upgrade or to do a clean install. If you choose the clean install option, it will give you the option to format with NTFS or leave the format as is ( FAT 32 ). NTFS is recommended by everyone. :)
