How to Make friends and influence people...

So I wrote the most obnoxious autobiography EVER for my new class, Fundamentals of Design FND112 UN.

I should be ashamed of myself. But I'm not. You have to write a new one for each Class and it just gets so OLD.... the criteria was: Begin with your name (any preferred nickname?). Then answer these questions for us (1-2 paragraphs, good grammar, spelling and punctuation):
What is your major? Where are you from/where are you now? What experience (if any) do you have with design? with Photoshop and Illustrator? What do you hope to gain from this class? ATTACH AN IMAGE of some kind that tells us a bit more about you and respond to at least two of your fellow classmate's biographies

So um... meet "Me" :-D:

Greetings everyone, my name is Renate Ussery (Ren, or Nada for short, depending on your personal preference) and I'm pursuing an associates degree in Web Design & Interactive Media. I was born In Cortland, NY, which has nothing but a college and country music before transplanting to Syracuse, NY around Age 12. Syracuse has nothing but a college and rap music, but is also boasts the state fair and the most polluted body of fresh water in the Western Hemisphere! I LOVE Syracuse... which is why I promptly moved to Camillus, NY. Close enough to work in Syracuse, far enough away to forget it's there. I live in the house I bought last October, Surrounded by trees, with my daughter Kahlyn, who is nearly 8, and my Fiance Kevin, who acts nearly 8.

I recently escaped indentured servitude, or rather was downsized from, Traveler's Insurance company where I worked for the previous two years or so as an Insurance service Representative. Freedom is bitter sweet though, as I find myself in need of benefits and money as I am due to subdivide in February. (I'm having a baby) But I'm no stranger to adversity, so I shall overcome. I've been a single mother since Kahlyn was born, and I'm no stranger to making a dollar work like 10. I am also, if you have not already guessed, extremely sarcastic, so please believe I'm not truly as full of myself as I appear, But I vow to use my powers for mostly good.

My professional experience with design is rather limited, but I have done extensive work with personal web design for friends and family. I taught myself HTML, DHTML, CSS and various bits and pieces of coding to manipulate the web to my liking. I generally look at what others have done and dissect it to discern which does what as I'm afraid reading a book on the subject may in fact be so incredibly boring as to kill me. My personal web site is on version 6 or 7, as every year or so I get extremely tired of it and redo it completely; A cycle dating back to 1998. It's about that time again, but you can view what I've currently done at http://www.thenadalady.com. Although, frankly, it's very boring. I am very boring and it's a web site about me, so there you have it.

I also have very basic knowledge of the Adobe products. I've long been a big fan of Jasc Paint Shop Pro, which later became Corel Painter. You can do the same level of detail in half the steps, and I truly appreciate that. But I will endeavor to learn as it is, in fact, now the industry standard. I would be grateful for direction towards Any tutorials you may be aware of that helped you immensely.

I also seem to have a blockage when it comes to basic design elements. I just don't think in basic form and shapes, so from this class I hope to gain the ability to do so or at least fake it admirably. Attached is the most recent picture I've completed. It's an anime design of the World of Warcraft character I play, Salaidh the Fire mage. I do a lot of anime style artwork, and if you want to look through it there is a link from the web page I mentioned earlier.

oh, and if you want to see that picture, here it is. So um... I need to get a life. SO! that being said, use the above criteria... what would YOURS say??

 

I don't see the point in writting that stuff for each class... Been a while since I was in a real school though.

OK, I'll bite..... What the hell *shrug*

Hey there!! My name is James B***** (there is a reason for that which I can not share ), but most people call me Jim or Daddy... and yes, there is a whole story to that one too. I just don't feel like telling it today.

My major at the moment is Hairstyling and Cosmetology. Granted, this does tend to change over time, but I feel that this one will last for a while until I choose to change it to Business Management/Ownership in a few years. I have previously majored in such things as PC Technician, Hemo-extraction Technician and Route Delivery Specialist.

I originated as a small, anthropomorphic mass that was delivered over thirty years ago into this world we call Central New York. I have meandered around her most of my life and figure that it will be a few more years until I get up enough momentum to really extract myself from this orbit. Currently, working in a busy salon and keeping track of my wonderful other half, our three dogs and my twelve year old are what occupy most of my time. I do try to sneak out now and again, but one or another of them generally catches me before I can get back into my office to perpetrate some me time.

When it comes down to experience, I have been playing with Photoshop and tweaking out photomanipulations for a fair number of years and love every second of it. Never played a whole lot with Illustrator, but I do like to mess around now and again as it keeps my mind fresh and allows me to look at what else I can do with digital artwork.

Seeing as how I am not actually in this class, but taking it vicariously through the Nada-Chica herself, I figure that I will get some great examples out of this class as to how it can be used to make some seriously cool stuff. Then I have to go in there and figure it out and see just how she did that... I know, it is raw talent that I am missing

Almost done modding it out. Should be hitting the rads wiht it around Sept. hard part is getting the 50mill cannons to mount int he front fenders so I can clear the traffic.

I'm with Musk on this one, since I have no intention of doing either. I have enough friends and I'm not interested in influencing other people - especially if it involves Kodo and funky toothbrushes with strange uses. Kodo, I hope you have dark colored carpets to hide those tell-tale 'marks'. :-D
