Is "100mvn01" a typo? Because that folder should, I believe, be named "100MNV01" (no quotes, of course). The "N" should come before the "V", not after. And the letters must be UPPER CASE letters, not lower. Finally, what exactly is the file name for your movie? Is it something like "Own the Night.MP4" ? (Again, no quotes in the actual file name.)

According to my PSP reference book (The Rough Guide to the PSP) video file names must adhere to the following format or the PSP won't recognize them:

    M4Vxxxxx.MP4

    In this sample file name:

    1) The five "x's" represent a five digit number.

    2) "M4V" must immediately precede the five digits.

    3) the file extension must be ".MP4"

    4) all letters must be UPPER CASE.

Here's a specific example of a working playable file in my PSP video folder:

    M4V20007.MP4

Yeah, that doesn't make it easy to remember what file is which film if you have several films on one memory stick, but it only takes a few seconds to start one up and see what it is if you don't remember.

You can also supposedly make thumbnail images for each file/film. Check out that ref book cited above or look online for instructions about making PSP thumbnails for movie files if you want to try that.

I have seen some DVD to MP4 converter software that somehow manages to display the correct titles while at the same time keeping the file name in the correct format as shown above, but I don't know how that trick is done.

Make sure your folder is named "100MNV01" and change your movie file name to conform to the format shown and see how that works.

Finally, make sure that your video file's bit rate is no greater than 768 kbps (the total of the video and audio bit rates).

    Good luck!

    Not ".mp4" -- should be ".MP4"

All letters have to be uppercase for PSP vids, unlike on a PC where lowercase works fine. File size looks OK, though it's not the file size as such that matters, but rather the bit rate. But I'd guess from that file size that the file's bit rate is within the suggested limit.

Try changing the file extension to upper case and see if that works.

At a quick glance I don't see anything wrong. Just for grins try changing to a higher five digit number. Maybe M4V20001.MP4

    See if that works.

If it doesn't, do you know what frame sizes were used when the file was converted to MP4? According to my book, width x height of frame size (in pixels) can't exceed 76,800. This means that the "standard" choices for frame sizes for PSP MP4 vids are:

    1) 320 x 240 (4:3; standard)

    2) 368 x 208 (16:9; widescreen)

    3) 416 x 176 (2:35:1; extra wide, I guess)
The Rough Guide seems to indicate some doubt about whether this 3rd format is actually supported, but my experience with my own PSP suggests it is.

    @ supadupadad

The book I purchased (The Rough Guide to the PSP) as my main reference source for my own used PSP is in storage so I'm not sure I can be of much help without it. Tell me a bit about how you've attempted to convert a movie for viewing on your PSP and I'll see if I can come up with any helpful suggestions.

Are you attempting to convert a commercial movie DVD that you own yourself? What software are you using to make the conversion? Are you then transferring the converted digital MP4 file to a PSP memory stick? What happens when you try to play the file?
