Hi, I need some help uninstalling an old trial version of adobe fireworks. I got the trial software with a web course I bought in Feb 2007. I recently went and down loaded the latest version of fireworks mx to try because I am trying to figure which suite to buy. The problem is when I install the new fireworks it comes up with trial expired. I had uninstalled the old one when the trial was over. So far I have:
    1) uninstall all versions of fireworks
    2) with ccleaner delete anything related fireworks
3)deleted the files I could find
    4) deleted registry items that refered to fireworks

and I still get the same error when I install the new fireworks. Any ideas?

    Thanks!

I'm assuming you used add and remove program.
Have you used Revo also http://majorgeeks.com/Revo_Uninstaller_d5706.html .
Also you used ccleaner did you also run the registry cleaner part of it.
You can also try booting in safe mode and try to remove it from that location.

    Thanks for responding,
Yes, I uninstalled through add/remove programs and then ran the ccleaner reg cleaner function. I also went through and made sure show hidden files on turned on and delete all the associated folders and then went to regedit and deleted the associated keys. when I install the newer version I still get your trial has expired. I downloaded revosetup like you suggested but it does not list the program. Could there be a hidden key or file I am somehow not finding. Any other thoughts?

I never liked doing anything in the registry, and avoided it like the plague, but from what you are saying there are parts of this program that are still on your PC, I think the registry is the place where it's hiding and I have no way of telling you how to go and look for it.
When you tried to install the new version and it said trial expired did it give you the option to purchase a newer version. The reason I said this is some software (like norton, and ms office) when it expires gives you a prompt to upgrade with a paid version. Somewhere in this process it ask you if you have the new product key and you enter it and the trial version turn into the full version.

    Buggabear,

Yes it does give me an option to purchase. After checking other posts that said you had to deactivate it and with no luck on that front either, Last night I just down loaded the whole suite trial and it seems to work OK. So maybe the version of fireworks was two close to the version I had two years ago. Not sure but it seems odd that after that long the key would still register trial expired and transfer over to a newer version. I even tried to back up the clock to when I installed the trial and it still didn't help. If Adobe wants to make it this hard to try before you shell out hundreds or maybe thousands of dollars for there products, I wonder how much trouble you have with running the programs... I think I may look else were and see what other options are available too.

Anyway thanks for the help, I have a work around for now. If anyone does figure this out I am curious to know why it happened.

    Thanks Again
