 hey, i know this has been asked and answered before, i am sure! but, i don't know where to look for the answer, so that is why i will ask again here...

how do you type your email addy on the internet, IE, on a message board, so that spammers are detered in using it.

    would it be, IE,

    12345@emailaddy.com

    to this:

    12345ATemailaddyDOTcom

or does it really matter how you would type it?

thanks in advance for your answer! ;)

Either that or add something that you then instruct the reader to remove, like

    123REMOVE45@emailaddy.com (Remove REMOVE)

Personally I dont, if someone wants it I will use the message boards PM facility to send it.

or what both you and TheDoug have posted would work ok.

yep, i know what you mean by doing the board's pm to communicate email. but, this one doesn't have the pm'ing feature. anyway, thanks for your answer. guess i'll have to stick to the example i gave. just knowing that kinda works is good enough for me.

    ps. i hate spam!

I don't post my email addy either but would also like to point out that the bots that are picking up email addresses are getting more and more advanced. Some of these bots are now able to automatically detect the legitimate addy even when typing in things like DOT or REMOVE as indicated above. It's a tricky business and the coders are always figuring out ways around the 'new' way to post things so they don't get picked up.

My advise..don't post it. Period. If you want to give it to someone or someone has requested it take it to private messages like Halo suggested or maybe even a chat program. I'm not 'up' on how secure it would be from prying bots doing it that way so someone else would need to address that route if it is in fact an option.:)
