How To Use A Ge Remote Control?

I have a Sony VCR and the original remote control no longer works. My son bought a GE remote control and set it up. I can only play a tape. There many buttons on it but I am unable to find the menu. With the original that does not work I was able to get to the menu page and set the VCR to record a program at a later time. If any one know how to get it to the menu page I would appreciate your help.

 

Is the GE Remote a "Universal" Remote? If you have the literature for the GE, there should be a chart with numeric codes for each brand of VCR and instructions on how to enter those codes. Not all functions available with the original remote will be available with the universal remote however.

See if you can locate a replacement original SONY remote for your exact model of VCR. It may not be very expensive.
