Hp 8100 Desk Jet Printer Says It's Installed,

but does not show up 1n the "Printers and Devices" area. I have deleted and reinstalled twice and still nothing. It was working and thent he wife (her computer) said it would not print. Any suggestions?
Win 10 Pro Desktop, computer less than 1 yr old and has worked just fine. Also I have tried the HP Print and Scan Doctor with no avail.

 

How does it connect? Direct to computer or is it networked? If networked, you may have to assign a static IP address to it. That's what I had to do with my printer as it kept getting a different IP address after a power outage and then my computers could no longer find it. If you tell the printer (or your router) to always use the same IP address, there is no need worry about addresses shifting. Just make sure to use an address higher than the number of networked devices. For example, if you have 10 computers, phones, smart TVs, etc. maybe assign 192.168.1. 81 to your printer.

 

Thanks for the response. MY BAD, I forgot that info. It is hardwired to the router then wireless from the router to the printer. It would fine until today. When I set up and bubble click wireless it finishes the software install and says all good. But still it does no work nor does it show in the printer section.

 

You might have to do a complete uninstall, reboot the computer and start over. But I would print out network status report and verify the assigned IP address is where the computer is sending it. You might also look in the router's admin menu to see if the printer is still currently attached.
