HP Advisor Dock

How do you remove the "HP Advisor Dock"?
Clicking the "x" only temporary removes it until the computer is rebooted and it appears again.

I received a laptop for Christmas and am in the process of personalizing it.

You should be able to prevent the Advisor from launching on startup: http://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Deskto.../Getting-rid-of-the-quot-dock-quot/m-p/146345.

Or, you should be able to uninstall the program completely via Control Panel > Programs and Features.

 

Click on the Windows (Start) icon at the bottom left of the screen and type "msconfig" in the search window.

When you click on MSCONFIG, the System Configuration window will open. Click on the "Startup" top tab, find the HP Advisor, uncheck it and restart the PC. This will keep the HP Advisor from automatically running (it will still be available to start manually if desired).

When you restart, a message box will pop up stating something to the effect of "You have made changes to startup". If everything is OK, check the box "do not show this again in the future."

Alternately, you can download and install Advanced System Care Free and use the startup manager option in its Utilities option.

(Go to Start/Control Panel/System and Security/Administrative tools and choose System Configuration. On the window choose Startup and untick which program(HP Advisor) you don't want to start at boot).
