I have a HP PSC 1300 All-in-One scanner that refuses to work without ink. All I want do do is scan and it keeps giving me a cartridge error . It's very frustrating, can't I bypass the thing into thinking it's just a scanner ? I can't afford to go out and buy new cartridges just to scan images. Thanks for any input.

When using the scanner in all in one printers, it also uses ink. Probably to prepare the printer for possible printing, even though we want to scan to the computer only.

I've got an Epson all in one and it won't let me scan either without ink. When I purchased that printer years ago I had no idea it would need ink to do a scan only. Those darn puny cartridges cost a bundle and wished there was a way around it. :cry
