hp all in one wonder

Help,
I'm pretty stumped with this one. My hp all in one 1410v will not work. The printer turns on and seems fine. I can print a test page everything looks good. I can copy the test page fine. When I plug it into the usb port..... I get usb device not recognized and that it has malfunctioned. Does the test page have any usefull info on it because it does have a error code on it. Or does any one have any ideas? I have tried different usb ports and different computers.. Same thing.. Thanks,

 

Have you used the same usb cable in all your tests? ed

 

No, I have tried several cables and they all work with other devices. I think a power surge caused the problem. The hp might be a gonner????

 

Here is a post from a user with the same problem, its a long shot but maybe,

"I have just experienced the same problem with my printers working on USB ports but not my USB memory stick or card reader and I got exactly the same error message as yourself.
I phoned my computer manufacturer's helpdesk and they told me I would have to re-format my hard disk and re-install Windows XP which I did only to find that the problem still existed.
Someone on one of the newsgroups to which I am subscribed suggested not only closing down my computer but also switching it off at the mains socket. Seemingly this allows any residual current on the motherboard or any stray capacitance to discharge.
Believe it or not it worked! I now have all my USB ports and devices working as I want them.

thanks for the feedback. I tried this already though. The printer will not work on both of the computers here. It's definitly the printer. does anyone know how to read the test page. It says last error afe17987???????
