I want to be able to use the all-in-one scan button on the printer itself & change the scan to list to scan to a certain place on my hd or to email. Using the HP software from my win7 machine, I am getting an error that it cannot change that because there is a failure to read the current destination on the start menu. I have looked on HP's site & found that there is no longer support for this printer & win7 -- you cannot even start an online chat with anyone. Is there a fix for this?

What is the error message exactly? The first thing you should do is completely uninstall your driver package from your "Programs and Features" control panel applet. Be sure to look around for odds and ends and HP tends to install massive amounts of different componenets when you do an install

After your unintall, reboot the system and go here and download the driver appropriate to your printer and save it to someplace convenient like your desktop.

In your Windows explorer shell, Right click on the driver installer and click propterties. Under your compatibility tab, set it to run as Administrator and set the compatibility mode to Windows 2003 server.

    Install the driver.

Let us know how it goes.
