HP deskjet printer ink indicator

I have just replaced a new print cartridge into my deskjet 3325 printer with a genuine and correct HP black cartridge, after the printer was indicating a virtual empty cartridge and a message to renew.
After renewal and carrying out the various tests satisfactorly, printing is good
but the printers ink indicator still shows the old empty cartridge, but I dont get any message to renew.
How do I get my printer to recognise the new cartridge ?
my os is XP, thanks

 

Can you click a refresh button or something of the equivalent? Failing that, try reinstalling the HP software - had many problems with an OfficeJet I used previously, the software was a nightmare, not to mention tech. support!!!
But that's definitely a software problem, sure of it...

Mcadam88 reinstalled printer software and thats solved the problem, thanks for your advice
