I have purchased the same burner hp dvd 1170 because my laptop no longer recognizes the internal cd drive. I have some video clips (avi) that I took with my digital camera of my sons wedding. I wanted to burn them to a cd
and play it on my tv. The one dvd player I have doesn't play burnt dvds/cds but the other one does. This cd I burned with the avi clips did not play in that dvd player even though the full movies (avi) that I have burned to cds have played in there. Now when I put in the installation cd that came with the 1170 it wasn't explanatory which software to pick & download so I just chose one and downloaded it. Should I choose other software from the web
or go back and choose one of the other softwares that came with it? I mainly want to burn music & video clips to my dvd/cds.

I just want to see these wedding clips on the full size television and I can't figure out why full movie avi's would work and this wouldn't. It makes me wonder if they're just called avi and really aren't. The other question is could I be choosing the wrong burning mode when I choose data cd? I thought thats what we used for the movies.
