My old HP Elitebook 8560p laptop started having bad audio problems about two weeks ago. It has Windows 10 pro Version 22H2 (OS Build 19045, 4529) installed having been upgraded years ago from Windows 7.
The sound quality gets worse and worse as I listen to any video until after about 5 minutes when it sounds like Charlie Brown's teacher. If I turn the audio off and wait a few minutes, it will improve but quickly goes downhill again.
I have gone to the HP website and had them run a diagnostic and they can't find anything wrong and there are no updates available. It has HP (IDT High Definition Audio Codec) speakers. I have gone into the settings and made sure everything is not muted and it is set to the defaults. I have removed the speaker driver and reloaded it from the HP site.
I know it is a problem with this laptop and not my ISP because my other laptop and smart tv have good audio. I just this evening went back into the setting and tried resetting thing to see if anything would effect it. The only thing that finally helped was adjusting the balance. If I turn the right speaker all the way down, the audio becomes clear but the volume is way down even at 100%.
Does this mean my right speaker is going bad? I see replacement speakers on ebay for this model. Are they hard to replace for a computer illiterate person?
