Hp Envy 5540 Series Printer Won't Print

Discussion in 'Hardware' started by HumbleServant1611, Feb 15, 2016.

  1. Hello fellow geeks,

First off, I don't know if this should of been posted in software or hardware. If it needs to be in the software forum just move it if you have the authority.

So I bought a HP Envy printer and went home, did the hardware setup, then installed the latest drivers and software which was the install disc. I went to go and print a document from Microsoft Word 2013 and the program sent the document to the printer but when the "Queue" comes up and says said "(0) Documents Queued". I then converted the document to a PDF file and tried printing it from Adobe Acrobat and still the same problem occurred so I can say conclusively that it isn't just one word processor. So I downloaded the HP Print and Scan Doctor and ran this. I went through the motions and and clicked the Fix Printing option it went through and did it's thing and I clicked the Test Page. It sent the Test Page fine so it mu computer is communicating with the printer. I then went to the Devices and Printers folder. Made sure it was online and Set as Default and right-clicked the printer and ran the troubleshoot wizard. It came up with this problem, " Some USB 2.0 devices are incompatible with USB 3.0. Plugging them into a USB 2.0 port can fix the problem." So I plugged it into another USB Port and had the same problem and the same message when I ran the wizard again. I did it once more in my Third and final USB Port and still the same problem/message. I then ran the HP Print and Scan Doctor again and when through the step and at the end where it ask if the problem is still occurring choose one of these options. So I choose the Uninstall/Reinstall. Once running through that procedure I still have the same problem.

I found this Troubleshooting Document from the HP Support site. It describes the exact problem I am having, if that helps.

After following the steps, the problem still occurs. I did notice that the step that tells me to rename "HPBXPSRENDER.DLL " when doing it I couldn't find it under the folder directory to rename it. I then followed the other steps and installed the Full feature drivers. After installation I went and checked the same file directory and the file was still not there. Could this be the problem, a missing .DLL file?

P.S. I did download the .DLL file from a third party site and added it in the directory that the above steps describes, still no luck.

If anyone can help me resolve this that would be much appreciated, I really don't want to return this product because it is a new piece of machinery.

    I have a Dell Inc. Inspiron 7547

    Hi

Thats a pain of an issue, what I would do first off is to completely uninstall any software and drivers that have been installed for this printer, I would then run CCLeaner and its Clean and Registry tool (the registry one do not change any options leave as standard and run until nothing lists to remove) then if you have the USB cable still plugged in, open Device Manager and look for any mention of HP Envy and uninstall any left over drivers, if in the Universal Serial Bus Controllers branch you see a listing for HP Envy then uninstall that also, do note what USB port the cable was in and take it out.

Download the latest know driver from HP (the ones off cd can be old, once currently at HP is from Feb 14, 2016) http://support.hp.com/us-en/drivers...l-in-One-Printer-series/5447939/model/5447940 personally I would get the Basic Drivers for now, I tend to go this route as the other software could be the issue, so best to go basic till the printer works.

Reboot with the Printer off, now are you connecting Wireless to this or via USB or both?
I would then plug in the USB cable back into the port you had it in, then allow Windows to install a printer driver, it should and follow all prompts, then install the basic set of drivers you downloaded from HP and right click Run as Admin to run, then a case of setup via the HP driver package the wireless option if you are to use the printer for wireless printing also. Once installed, reboot and test.

  3. I am connecting using USB cable. Also, I followed all the steps but ran into a couple of issues. I will attach images.

Firstly when I rebooted.... Windows didn't automatically start installing any drivers.

Secondly, when I ran the Basic Driver application I went through the step a can ticked the "Connect using a USB cable" the it went to the next screen a told me I wasn't connected to computer.

A few other things I want to add.

When rebooting was USB supposed to be plugged in? I had it unplugged from computer when I rebooted.

I currently don't have internet, don't know if that makes a difference.

Lastly, I have been having trouble with Microsoft Office updates, they just fail every time I try to install them automatically from the Windows updates panel. Not sure if that's a factor in this. Adobe Acrobat does the same thing with the printing problem. Thank you for your patience. Images are attached

  5. Well I'm not sure what the issue was but it was time I restored my computer to the "Factory Image" or PBR Image. After doing this I went to a friends house and went through the wizards while connected to the internet and install the print connected through USB. It works now on or off the internet. Thanks for your input. I can only assume that it was because I wasn't connected to the internet at the time of the installation. For anyone whoever comes across this thread i would recommend installing while connected to the internet.
