HP Laptop compaq nc6230

    I start up my laptop and I hear the fan lights come on but no screen shows up. It stays powered up. It doesn't go through the boot sequence just sits there powered up. sometimes it boots up if I power up and down enough times. could it be the screen? Please help as i just bought it about a month ago and i no longer have contact with the person and school starts in 2 weeks.

    As soon as you hit the power button start hitting F2 and try to get into the bios, or any other screen that may pop up, just to test if the screen is actually working, if you get nothing, my advice would be a local pc shop. Try F8-F10. ed
