HP Laptop Fan Problem - Sluggish Laptop

Hi Guys, initially i posted on the maleware forum thinking there were some viruses on my laptop but they suggested the software forum.

I have since realised that when my laptop heats up (which doesnt take much) then fan works hard which really slows my laptop down.

It occurs quicker if im trying to watch a movies, upload pictures or have many pages open on the internet.

Any suggestions would be helpful please.

 

1. With the PC turned off (room temp.), use canned air or an air compressor to blow any dust from the fan vents (side and bottom).
   
2. Consider buying a fan cooled stand/base for your PC.

Ok I will try giving those options you mentioned a go as i was considering a cooling fan for the laptop but its recently got worse with an increase in cpu. Thanks

 

There is a post started by me yesterday about notebook fans. Depending upon the model of your laptop there is a program I found that seemed very helpful at monitoring (and possibly solving) cpu-fan issues.

I cannot open the link I used yesterday to download the program but you might be able to.

If your model is on the compatibility list you might find it helpful.

Be mindful of the warnings in the manual..it looks like you can ask the program to do things that could do harm to your system unless it's capable of doing them.

I've been using it the past 2 days and it has allowed me to manually control my fan to keep the cpu cooler until I can find out what the actual cause of the overheating is.

Remember, overusing a fan will probably shorten it's life. The program allows you to monitor many items. I find having it monitoring just the cpu temp and fan speed very informative.
