HP Laptop formatted

Hi All, I formatted and deleted the partitions on my HP laptop intending to install Windows 7 as Windows 8 that was pre-installed was giving me trouble, freezing, crashing and locking up. I now find that I cannot install Win 7 at all, does this mean I have to buy a copy of Win 8 or is there any alternative please. Thanks in advance for any suggestions/advice.

It's probably too late now but if a new machine wasn't running correctly why didn't you simply return it under warranty?

 

Wish I could have but unfortunately I was in hospital undergoing major Heart surgery and the dealers were not very helpful hence my attempt at repairs. I did contact the helpline but not much better. thanks for the prompt reply anyway.

Hi, thanks for the quick reply, I am pleased to say that I have installed Win 7 on this laptop, the problem was a secure boot setting enabled on the BIOS which stopped any installation, now to find motherboard drivers!
