I'm working on an HP pavilion laptop. The O.S. loaded is vista. When the cord is plugged in, the end of the power cord has an led lit up, so power is getting to the computer. But the hard drive does not spin up and there is no option to go into cmos. I have removed the hard drive and attached it to my desk top with an SATA/IDE adapter cable, and it still responds and I see the OS available on the drive, but the laptop does nothing. What should I try now? Thanks, Tony

If you see nothing on the screen and no signs of the laptop booting up them I would have to say that it is probably dead. Sorry.

There was a series of hp laptops that had a recall for overheating video cards, what model is your laptop?

    Hi,

If you are calling the Power Adaptor a Power Cord and the adaptor has the led on it then there is no assurance that the computor is geting power. Take a voltmeter and check what's available at the power plug and see if it matches the specs printed on the adaptor label.

    Luck, Jim
