HP LaserJet P1006 Error "Install Print Cartridge"

Hello. I am getting the error: "Install Toner Cartridge or Remove Paper Jam" whenever I try to print anything including a test page using my HP LaserJet P1006. The printer is about a month old and had been working fine for a few weeks.

I am using Vista 64 bit with the correct 64 bit drivers. I've tried unplugging the printer power and USB, removing the toner cartridge many times, checked for paper jams, I've reinstalled drivers once, and I've cleared the spooler each try.

When I look at the printer icon in the Control Panel>Printers folder, it says "No Toner/Ink" in subtext - but the cartridge is installed. I've only printed about 10-20 pages so it should still be pretty much full, and I believe it would show a different error message anyway if the toner were low or out.

Take the toner cartridge out and clean the metal contacts on the toner,then clean the metal contacts the on the printer that the toner cartridge connects to.

Then you can try putting some tape on the opposite side to the metal contacts to push the toner cartridge against the contacts,I have done this on a few printers and it worked fine.

Problem is usually when they start not recognizing cartridges they are on the way out and there's little you can do,usually after the warranty has expired irrelevant of how much you've used it,I hate printers and printer manufacturers.
