I have tried all the suggested fixes through HP. There is driver software loaded, but it doesn't seem to be finding it. I get an error code 39.

The DVD is there in devices, under the PC. But when I open computer, there is nothing except the C drive.

I have tried searching for and downloading driver software, nothing is working. It was working last weekend, now all I get are blank DVDs.

    I have several things.

A DRVSSTORE file that is blue, and has the files associated with gearaspiwdm.sys in it. No idea where this came from. But the gearaspiwdm driver is in the System32/Drivers file and listed on the device drivers list.

Have a cdrom.sys driver in the System32/drivers file. Also on the device driver list.

Does not let me uninstall either driver. The code I'm getting says the driver can't be loaded because it is corrupt or not there. Obviously it's there. I can't find the driver online, and when I run one of the programs to check my drivers, they always list the DVD driver as up to date and do not give me the option of downloading a new driver.

I have uninstalled the DVD burner twice. No change.

The light is blinking on the DVD. So I assume it is working.

I did install Pinnacle Studio 14, after I had successfully created a DVD using cheap MS software. I'm thinking this is the issue, that the software did something, I'm also getting a "Runtime error 217 at 0043CBA0" at startup which seems related.

While just wandering aimlessly around, I found one place where the device driver is listed as a file from Pinnacle Studio. When I try to redirect it, it doesn't work. Everything is telling me my driver is up to date, but the driver says it is corrupted. So, I can't download a file, I can't find the driver to download, I can't update, because it's already updated. And Pinnacle doesn't provide support AT ALL.

My guess is, I have to uninstall Pinnacle (it was a week ago, and my restore points don't go back that far). Which means another 6-8 hours of grueling re-installing. I think I'm just going to quit.
