    Good day.

On an HP Pavillion dv4 1222nr laptop running Vista 64bit, the display and colors are heavily distorted. The colors seem to 'wash out'. It looks as if paint remover has been spilled and the colors run down the screen.

    1) The display is distorted as soon as the laptop is powered up. The post screen, the bios, the colors are all distorted.

    2) When I attach a monitor to the laptop, the display on the attached monitor is normal.

It appears that the issue is the display of the laptop and not the video card or software since it is corrupted on startup, unless there is some video configuration that would corrupt the display for the laptop only.

Please advise what I should try next. I don't think it is a video driver, or is it? Is it worth downloading the original driver and reinstalling? Or is the display broken?

    Thank you in advance

    Hi

I would try re-installing the drivers again but I suspetc as you do that the screen, inverter or backlight is failing, especially as it happens with the BIOS screen.

How old is this laptop and still under warranty at all?
