HP Recovery Disk question

I have a new HP (XP Pro) and was told to immediately make a recovery disk, which did not come with the machine. I created an image and burned it to a CD. A month later a message came up telling me to make a recovery cd...I made a second, but thought this was a "one-shot" option. Now I'm not feeling really confident that I have a good recovery disk.
I can order another from ComputerSurgeons, but my questions is will a factory recovery disk from our other 2 year old HP formfactor, also XP Pro, work as a backup for this minitower?

No. Yes. Maybe :) The other recovery CD might work, but the XP license is for one machine, so it will only work for about 30 days. That is assuming it works at all, the recovery CD might recognize it is from a different machine.

Anyway, if you made a image, then you are all set. Basically the HP software that prompted you to make a backup is unaware that you already made your own.

Thanks for the quick reply, MajorAttitude. Between the recovery console and the backup image, I guess I'll just rely on both and pray that I never have to find out!
