I am using an HP scanjet 5400c scanner on an XP computer.
It uses HP Precisionscan Pro 3.13 software.
It is working well as desinged.
It allows one to "scan to" a list of programs.
The list does not include the Photoshop Elements 2.0 program that I have installed.
I would like to add that program to the list and scan directly to photoshop.
Can anyone tell me how to change this.
OR can anyone reccomend a freeware scanner control program that I can use that will serve this need. Right now iIam not in a great position to buy Pagemanager.
    Thanks in advance.

I'm not sure if this will work. Ironically I just worked on HP Scanner software on a friend's computer. He lives in the coal regions of PA too.
I selected File, because as far as I could see, there is no way to add additional choices. Once File was selected, a box opened up and I could select where the scan was to be saved. For him, I chose Documents. For you, I'll suggest trying Photoshop Elements. You'll need to browse until you get to the correct path. Once you find Photoshop Elements, then keep looking until you find the place where pictures are stored within the program. Give the scanned image a name and it should scan and save it to the proper place.

If that doesn't work, select File and put them in a folder on the desktop. Open Photoshop Elements and import all the pictures from the desktop folder.

I am not sure where you mean to try File.
I have been using your second suggestion. I added a folder to the C drive and I scan to that and then send the files to photoshop. I would sure like to eliminate one step. It does not seem possible.
    Thanks anyway.
Is there no freeware scanner control program that I could try?

In the dropdown box that shows where to save, one of the choices is file or save and shows a picture of a floppy. That's the one selected. You get another window pop up and that allows you to select the path by using the browse button to where you want the scans to be placed.

In my program the only options in that drop down menu are programs, no "file".
The program instructs you to scan to a file and then send it to any non listed program.
