HP2100c scanner

    Acquired an HP 2100C scanner and d/l the software sn644en.exe and installed.
    I keep getting error message: "Sorry, scanner could not be initialized".

    Runing XP pro on a 266 IBM 256meg. Have USB 2.0 card installed and on board USB 1.0. Neither will talk to the scanner it seems.

    I've followed all the steps given on the HP site and searched for other drivers but all seem to take me back to the same software; sn644.exe, which is the complete package.

    Ideas anyone or can you point me to other drivers I might try?
