HPwuSchd7.exe

    Hi

    My husband got an email telling him he had received an ecard and clicked on the link and the zip.file it led him to!!!! :cry love him really rolleyes

    Now his computer continually gets a message to say: "HPwuSchd7.exe - no disk. There is no disk in the drive, please insert disk into drive 1/2/3/4"

    His computer is virtually useless as this message just pops up all the time and prevents anything else from working. I can't even run any scans. Posting this from my computer to ask if it is possible to disable this thing in order to try and get rid of the malware which has presumably been installed.

    I have tried disabling it in the startup programs but it makes no difference.

    Hope someone can help.

    Are you able to run any of the tools listed in the Malware Removal Guide in safe mode? Often times it is the case that when you cannot run things in normal mode, safe mode is usually okay.

    I can't get go beyond my home page online in safe mode so am having trouble following the steps in the guide. I have got it running a spybot scan though so I will see if that helps and have another go tomorrow. Thanks :)

    So just to clarify, you must already have had SpyBot S&D installed?

    Do you have any of the tools from our R&R downloaded or installed? (I guess not) How about using your computer to download the tools needed, transferring them to a flashdrive or CD to get them onto the sick PC?
