hpzjrd01/hphmon06 windows not booting

Ok! yay! My first post! Yay! Computer is broken... not so great. I'm using my laptop by the way. This is a doozey... help me at your best.

Before posting here, I searched around and found some people had similar problems as I did, though mine seems to win in severity.

Ok recently a new HP All In One printer was installed to my desktop, the following

with Media Center, not XP or Home.

Everything seemed fine til i located that hpzjrd01.dll was missing, as was the hphmon06.exe. I have no idea what either file does. Now it gets worse. Today a huge thunderstorm hit Chicago (anyone else feel that?) and the power surge hit my computer turning it off. I left it on this morning, and now after trying to turn it on later it freezes during boot. I have tried booting to safe mode, recovery mode, regular Windows, and freezes every time when I make my selection. Cannot boot to Windows. So I tried putting my OS disc in the drive and it freezes again; will not load Windows either.

After many failed attempts I put Linux in and that worked fine. Inspecting my filesystem none of my personal files were affected, though I'm sure the folder system32 is not enjoying itself.

That's my situation.
