    Hello again,
My neighbour's Hudl 2 tablet is not in the perfect state. I updated it yesterday and it won't link onto the google play store. Lots of errors keep popping up. I think it needs to be reset.
The problem is there are some photos on the internal disk that I would like to keep.
Any thoughts to what I should do?
    Best wishes,
    s.

    Apologies.
I should have started this Thread in
    Smartphones and Tablets - Hardware.
Any chance it could be replaced?

See the report button? You click that when you've made a mistake or need an edit and someone with higher authority here will correct the problem.

Save them on a microSD card.

Thank you Just Playin. One of the problems of the tablet is that the micro-sd card is Read-only. The mission to change this strange behaviour was discussed in an earlier thread.
I could attach a usb drive and copy the files to that.
The reason I am asking the original question is because I came across

Performing a factory reset on your Tesco Hudl tablet will not wipe its data

    I don't know whether I believe it...

    You can't get another?

    That would work too.

    I wouldn't count on it.

How? That only works if a) the tablet supports OTG and b) you have an OTG cable.

    From this thread
    https://www.modaco.com/forums/topic/375974-usb-connectivity-after-lollipop-update/
it appears that OTG worked in Kitkat but when the Hudl2 was updated to Lollipop, it no longer worked.

    Since I don't own a Hudl2, I can't confirm if that is correct.

When you connect the tablet to a PC, can you get to the files and "copy" them to the PC? If so, do that and then copy them to a 2nd location like a USB stick so this person has all the files.

Thank you plodr. I copied the files via the charge cable connected to a microSD USB adaptor via a Windows 10 laptop.
I have now sorted out the reset procedure.
    Hopefully it will work.
    Thanks again.
