Hulkster's Halloween Lights & Webcam

For those interested in halloween decorations, I just turned on the halloween webcam which allows you to not only pan/zoom the webcam, but also control the lights - i.e. turn 'em on and off via the web. You guys had a lot of fun with my Christmas Lights in 2003, but it's back ... and there are various improvements for halloween 2004

And just for grins, you can even vote for your favorite candidate - Bush, Kerry, ... or the HULK! I even setup a special "hello popup" for you guys from this forum if your inbound http referrer is from MJ.

BTW, as noted on the page, I'm trying to find an MP3 for a radio commercial I heard the other day which was one of the "Bud Light salutes true American Heroes" ... and this one was about "Mr. Halloween Decorations Man" - hey, they know me! I've Googled to the end of the Internet, but can't find it - if anyone comes across it, I'd be very appreciative of the URL.

My wife says I have g-e-e-k written all over my forehead, so I hope appropriate to post this in MJ ... ;-)

Thanx for looking around guys - my guess is "Bud Light salutes Mr. Halloween Decorations Man" is new for this year.

Lights/Webcam go on in 3.5 hours ... have fun guys ... and cast your vote for the Big Green Guy since I've put up a Hulk for President page (any better wording ideas on this page BTW)

 

Ummmmmm ... now I understand the comments above ... you guys put it on the front page of MJ ... yeah, this oughta be interesting tonight! ;-)

P.S. Hope you guys like the Javascript Pop-up I put there for 'ya - "MJ`s shall inherit the Earth! ;-)"
If anyone has some more clever ideas and/or better wording (ditto on the Hulk for President mentioned above), let me know.

It's definately up and operational - we just drove home and quite a light show going on, so you guys are working it hard ... wouldn't take many more boards/forums/blogs like MG to rival Slashdot ... and yea, the signal-noise ratio (or quality) at /. sometimes leaves a little to be desired sometimes.

BTW, in case you guys missed it, something I figure you guys would appreciate more than most is that someone wrote a "Kerry-Bot" that hammered the webcam to try to "stuff the ballot" - I nulled out their votes and banned their IP - haven't seen another others ... yet ... that I'm aware of! ;-)

It's only going to be up for another week, so hammer away and have fun - any suggestions/comments are appreciated since you guys have a better eye for this type of stuff than the normal Web Surfer. I just added a 2004_10_25 update (scroll to the bottom) saying "appropriate and excellent recognition - thanx guys!"

P.S. This is all warm-up for my christmas lights which should also include the christmas webcam ... but I actually think Halloween is more fun with the Hulk and the voting aspect.

Seems to be cranking right along - a bit easier to use now that it has moved down on the MG Front Page near the bottom - was more "fun" when it was getting hammered!

Except for the marquee tag, the page is W3C complaint, and uses minimal CSS, so should not be an issue for any reasonably modern browser.

 

Actually, I've noticed a bump-up in traffic already from your main page - more important than traffic/smaffic is that folks are enjoying it - glad you guys are ... and note that in my 2004_10_25 update on the webcam page, I said "appropriate and excellent recognition - thanx guys" to MajorGeeks.com - I can change the wording if you guys want, but I figured that was about right.

It's been a total hoot ... I'm leaving up two extra days for the election - remember, Hulk for President! ... but am actually looking forward to shutting it down just to give myself a break.

However, my christmas lights are right around the corner, so I'll be going to work on that pretty darn soon.

 

Roger all that Timmay - I'm not a "link exchange type of guy" (not implying you said that or that you are) ... but if something has decent content and complements my stuff, I'll link to it - after all, that is what the World-Wide-Web is all about! ;-)

Roger that Captain Teneel - just took down the last of the Halloween stuff from outside. Also, I'm wrapping up my writeup and since we were talking about web traffic, thought you guys might enjoy reading my Halloween 2004 Slashdot Effect Analysis which includes some data/commentary on MajorGeeks.Com - you guys actually generate a bit of traffic.

I haven't made this "publically viewable" yet, so if you guys have any comments/suggestions on this, send 'em my way as I plan to do so in the next day or so ... and then I can get to work on the Christmas stuff.
