This storm just keeps getting stronger and stronger:( They are saying this hurricane looks like it will be the strongest one in recorded history to make landfall...so devastating.

Hoping all who will be in the path of Dennis stay safe...MG'ers and everyone else too. At least this time it looks like more people evacuated so that's encouraging.

Things aren't bad here on the East coast....we've had a lot of rain the past 24 hours and we were under a tornado watch until 8AM this morning. We are still under a flood warning but that's to be expected.

Anyone else having far reaching effects from this storm?

I've got some good friends who live just east of Biloxi that I haven't been able to get ahold of them for a few days. I, of course, am fine, being in Michigan (we're not even supposed to get residual rain from Dennis like we did from Cindy). Them I'm worried about, though. At least they're on the west side of the eye...although not really enough for it to count. :(

No "far reaching effects" yet, but heavy rain starts tonight, and what's left of storm center is due here tomorrow. Won't be hurricane force winds, but we'll likely get pounded pretty well.

I heard this morning that hurricane Ivan knocked down alot of the natural barriers there last year, so this one will do much more damage.

Hope all you Southerners are OK. We have cyclones here in the wet season (Oct-->April), but none lately. PTL. Bazza

I never saw a hurrican fall apart so fast. Last hurricane that made it to us dumped about 10" of rain, and still had 30-40 MPH winds. Yesterday when what was left of Dennis "hit" us, we got a day of gentle rain, and virtually no wind at all. Poof, it was gone.

Hope all is well in the south!!!!

My parents live in southern illionios (about 1 1/2 hours south of St. Louis) and today they are getting the very edge of the risidual stuff, and it's just basically been cloudy all day (which is unusual for Chicago in the summer) here!!
