Man I am not lookin' forward to this thing coming our way. If it comes onland where they are predicting. It's flat all across there & won't do anything to slow it down. Looks like we gonna get hit by the Flintstones.

Category 5 with 175 mph winds according to the weather channel. Here we go again. I`m glad I live in the north...I can shovel snow but a hurricane can huff and puff and blow yer house down.

Shoveling snow is a good replacement for summertime activites...ie...bike riding, walking, softball...that people like myself use to stay in somewhat good physical condition. And truthfully, there isn`t a whole lot of weater in the world that smells as good or is as pretty is freshy fallen snow. A foot of snow can be removed somewhat easily, even if it may happen several times a week. A hurricane, or an earthquake, can kill you.

I'll say one thing about this storm: it's in no hurry to go anywhere

On a somewhat-related meteorological note, we had a hell of a lightning storm here last night. All you could see were Abby's two rapidly blinking eyes from under the sofa :D

Appropriate. Nobody is in any hurry to RECEIVE it.

Abby must be in a particularly tolerant mood lately. Or has she been wearing out her Nerf football? :D

stay safe all you down there. my prayers are with you. the weather has been throwing it down it torrents today. this has put you to the forefront of my mind all day. unrelated to your storm, but connected in some weird way, the weather here has been what the meteorologists describe as 'unstable'. this normally means they don't know WTF is going on.

We are supposed to get some pretty decent squalls overnight and through the day tomorrow; KSC is closed tomorrow except for the rideout crew, but I'm going to work anyway ;)

Actually, some of the outer bands from the storm, the "way outer"-bands, are already here, and the winds have been increasing all afternoon. Good sleeping weather :)

Well, KSC survived, none the worse for wear. A couple of tornadic episodes near the Shuttle Landing Facility and near Haulover Canal, but not much more. Winds did hit 70 MPH sustained, but only briefly as the storm really picked up speed and left pretty quickly. Nothing other than a few inches of rain and some 45 MPH gusts here at home, but my hometown of Hollywood, FL, got it pretty bad. I-95 from Boca Raton on down into Miami is pretty much junk, as all the street signs, lights and LED message boards are on the ground. I would think I-95 in Miami-Dade would be the biggest concern; it's the main artery in and out of Dade County for the workforce, carrying such a traffic load that it is 16 lanes wide.

Then again, it's Miami and was in serious need of a good bath ;)
