    Hi,
I am having pop-ups every time I use Firefox, but not with Chrome. I've run some of the tools and it does show malware - at least I think it does. Can you tell me if I'm infected?

    Thanks

Re run Hitman and have it delete Malware remnants and Potential Unwanted Programs.
Now explain how things are running. The logs looked good apart from this. If you still experience pop ups after running Hitman with that fix then we will be uninstalling firefox.

Ok I had HItman delete remnants and Potential Unwanted Programs, and I am still having pop-ups. Before contacting Majorgeeks I did uninstall and reinstall Firefox but it didn't seem to have any effect on the pop-ups.

This is the link that pops up but Firefox stop it from being displayed because I have pop-up turned off

I am not sure what is happening, I restarted my computer twice now the pop-ups are not happening. I am not sure what is going on.

Surf around a day or so longer and then report back to me and update me. :)

Enervating was going well until I clicked on the link in the mail from Majorgeeks, then the pop-ups started again. The pop-up seem to only come from some websites

I am sorry for my spelling mistake in my last email.
It appears that the pop ups appear more often when I click a link from my email or any other website

We are going to be uninstalling your old version of FireFox and installing the new version. So do the below to save bookmarks:

    • Run FireFox and click Bookmarks.
    • Then select Organize Bootmarks.
    • Then on the next window click File and then select Export. Save the bookmarks.html file to your Desktop for later use in importing.
Now download and save the installer for the current version of FireFox but DO NOT install it yet. Get it here: Mozilla FireFox

You will need exit FireFox now and use Internet Explorer to continue with the below until we reinstall FireFox.

Start by uninstalling FireFox and then reboot. Do not skip the reboot.
After reboot, delete the below folders:
    • C:\Program Files (x86)\Mozilla Firefox
    • C:\users\UserAccount\AppData\Roaming\Mozilla\Firefox

where UserAccount is the actual user account name being used.

Now reinstall FireFox from the file previously downloaded.
Import your bookmarks file. (similar process to exporting).

    Any better? :confused

Ok, I've uninstalled Firefox and deleted the two folders. I restarted my computer and installed Firefox and I am not seeing any pop ups at this time.
I guess I should cross my fingers and toes.

    Sounds good. ;)

If you are not having any other malware problems, it is time to do our final steps:
    1. We recommend you keep Malwarebytes Anti-Malware for scanning/removal of malware.
    2. Renable your Disk Emulation software with Defogger if you had disabled it in step 4 of the READ & RUN ME.
    3. Go to add/remove programs and uninstall HijackThis. If you don't see it or it will not uninstall, don't worry about it. Just move on to the next step.
    4. If running Vista, Win 7 or Win 8, it is time to make sure you have reenabled UAC by double clicking on the C:\MGtools\enableUAC.reg file and allowing it to be added to the registry.
    5. Now goto the C:\MGtools folder and find the MGclean.bat file. Double click ( if running Vista, Win7, or Win 8 Right Click and Run As Administrator ) on this file to run this cleanup program that will remove files and folders related to MGtools and some other items from our cleaning procedures.
    6. If we had you download any registry patches like fixme.reg or fixWLK.reg (or any others) and running MGclean.bat did not remove them, you can delete these files now.
    7. Any other miscellaneous tools we may have had you install or download can be uninstalled and deleted.
    8. If you are running Win 8, Win 7, Vista, Windows XP or Windows ME, do the below to flush restore points:
      • Refer to the instructions for your WIndows version in this link: Disable And Enable System Restore
      • What we want you to do is to first disable System Restore to flush restore points some of which could be infected.
      • Then we want you to Enable System Restore to create a new clean Restore Point.
    9. After doing the above, you should work thru the below link:
