i am looking for a free vector image editing program

being more discriptive i am looking for a vector image editing program that is free (also could have the capability to convert images from raster to vector the format i am looking for is svg

i appreciate the help

You could also use Gimp it is free and will do what you want. Sorry to jump in but it works for me. I do alot of graphic work .

These are freeware so you don't have to worry about it being a trial. Gimp does pretty much what photoshop ,paintshop pro,photo impact will do. It even has a free fractual built into it. Hope this helps!
