I am not up to snuff with recent posts, but check this Win 7 tip.

I recently updated to Windows 7 Pro RTM 64 bit, and while most things went smoothly, I couldn't update the video driver to save my life. Whenever I did, it would install, but there was no hardware acceleration at all.

This tablet has an Ati Radeon 3200HD, just for reference.

So Cat 9.9 was released and the same problem happened.

Well, in short, I found a solution, sort of. Turn off UAC (User Account Control), and then install the driver.

Works fine now. Apparently there is something in the ati installer that doesn't play nice with the changes in Windows 7 UAC.

Just a heads up if anyone is having trouble installing video or other hardware drivers.

Hi Adrynalyne!!! Long time, no see!!! And thanks for the tip. Personally, I haven't had too many problems with W7 and drivers, even when being forced to use Vista drivers when 'official' W7 drivers aren't available.....
    :-D

(Good to see you're posting again! LOL )

I agree, I haven't had any issues with the windows 7 drivers at all. Actually, when I installed the OS all the drives installed from m$ and worked perfectly.

So, what happens when you turn UAC back on, after installing the drivers? Any problem?

It works fine if you re-enable UAC after.

It seems odd, considering the installer runs as admin, but Im guessing its just an issue with this particular integrated video card, 7, and ati. Mobility cards are usually funny with drivers not supplied by the OEM.

Why would you re-activate UAC?? I am running Windows7 Ultimate x64 and disabled the UAC right after install, and have never been inclined to start it again. Call me old fashion, but the less stuff that is running as a process the faster my computer is to do the important stuff like reply to posts at MG.
