Yes, jarcher, I think it does. Especially considering the deal I got on it. It is a 17" monitor with both digital and analog input. My current graphics card doesn't have a digital output, but I am going to upgrade within this year, so that was very important. The response time is 16 ms, not one of the fastest, but good enough for me. It was very difficult to find a monitor for a reasonable price with both a short response time AND a digital input... According to the specifications, the viewing angle wasn't the best, but I was pleasantly surprised at how good it was. This monitor has been reviewed in several Swedish computer magazines, always getting "best in test".

I looked at 19" monitors too, but as my old monitor blew up so suddenly, this purchase came sooner than I had planned... To get a 19" that can do what this one does, I would have had to pay more than I was willing to right now... I am not going to regret this though! I got a very nice surprise when I unpacked it. I knew that crt monitors are measured in size with the frame and all, but I had no idea the difference would be this big! This 17" monitor feels almost double the size of my old 17" crt monitor. Even though it only uses half the desk size... I'm very comfortable on 1280x1024 on this baby, and I couldn't have gone higher than 1024x768 on the old one!

So yes, I think it performs well. I've tested a car chase clip from a movie, and an animated action/shooting scene, colours and contrast superb. I haven't had time to play any games on it yet, I got it yesterday, but next weekend I'll dust off the light sabers and head to the battle ground again!

Even if it is possible to get a better 17" monitor, I doubt I could have gotten one at a better price!

Do not under estimate the power of the time team....

 

If I can get better than 1600x1200 on a lcd screen, I'd switch to lcd from crt. My old $800 19" crt screen died last year, so I'm stuck with this 17" screen. I hate working with low resolution (1280x1024), which this POS 17" can only handle..

 

A little digging in some old threads led me to this... As I was "absent" ... I missed the ressurection.

I've been in this relationship for over a year now, and I'm still in love. True, first thing in the morning, before I've had my tea, and I'm still grumpy and sleepy, then I hardly give it a look... And I don't get flowers as often anymore, but that is just a natural change, now it is more reliable and steady!

I know how you feel. my CRT went belly up about a yr ago and I purch a 19" LCD. Henceforth, CRT's are all DEAD! I have an ergo type comp desk where the monitor is slung under the glass at a slight angle Had to make some changes but all works great.

Well, I'm back to a 19" CRT, so, I'm back to 1600x1200 happiness.

Vista (b2) gave me trouble at 1792x1344

Nice pair you have at work! I miss the dual heading most when working with photoshop. Not that I do it all the time, but still, everytime I use PS I wish I had another monitor! And when doing online gaming, for chatting instead of TS... lol
