Ok I know theres a virus, he's bought and paid for something called CA Antivirus which seems to be more trouble than its worth.

It started with, trying to download sound drivers for the conextant audio Compaq Pressario C700.

In trying this the wireless died, and doesnt appear, and there are no system restore points.

So at the moment I cannot retrieve any documents as the virus infects any flash drives, Cds refuse to write.

The CA immediately banned the mbytes.exe and wont open the Superantispyware and has trashed that flash drive. I cannot download the files whatever it is closes the download and the internet wont even open sometimes.

the threat still on the formatted dlash drive is INF/Autorun virus ,caught by Nod32

Any ideas or do I format the Hard Drive, mind you this HDD is only 4 weeks old as the last one fried itself. ( my last thread)

I would first install this if possible:
AutoEater. (Download to a clean thunb drive and install it.)

You can try these instructions to disable your AV program:
How to temporarily disable your AV protection

Are you running two AV programs? Nod32 and CA? You need to delete one.

Have you attempted to do anything in safe mode?

Safe mode or not No joy. Plus the flash drive used to transfer data is also infected by win32/Agent.OKD trojan.

All searches are hijacked, all download attempts are terminated, and now even zip files will not open.

However on running smitfraud I managed to get some badly needed files onto a flash drive, which has the above trojan as well. (formatting the flash drive does not get rid of it and neither does antivirus scans)

Any ideas before I format the HDD

Only what I posted to you.
Did you try disabling your AV program?
Did you remove one so that you only have one?
Did you get a clean thumb drive and put autoeater on it?

Yes to all, I dont even post a question unless Ive tried all your answers.

Auto eater itself would not load, as I explained, any exe wont happen . the problem seems to be evolving.

Luckily since running the last program I could, Smitfraud, I have been able to save important documents/ photos, with no virus, so I may jsut have to do the format

Many thanks and Im onto fixing a new computer with the PAV virus, so much easier

If you have retrieved your important data, then i think your only course of action is to do a complete reformat and new install. :(
