i cant beleave its going on but someone had the money to go out and buy a Bell 222A and is turning it into a Airwolf replica. this is the latest photo of it. this guy must be loaded because for a replacement door alone costs around $[FONT=Verdana, Arial, Helvetica][FONT=Verdana, Arial, Helvetica]40,000.00. i might just to pay a visit to Dawsonville. i wonder if next he will make a replica of Santini Air's Bell 206 jetranger[/FONT][/FONT]

Photo: Steven Stull The idea of recreating an Airwolf helicopter in all its glory has been every fan´s dream since the crash of the real Airwolf helicopter in 1991. But nobody thought it would ever happen. Recently however, a group of dedicated people gathered to make this dream come true.

Early this year, a Bell 222A registered N414WW was transported to the home of Steven W. Stull (already creator of the Airwolf helmet and flight suits replicas) in Dawsonville, USA. Steven has sanded down the paint and is now working from scratch to re-create the most famous helicopter in TV history.

Apart from the paint job, the difficult task of re-creating specialized body parts and weapons requires subject matter assistance which is being provided by Roy Nelson and Clark Van Hoten to ensure 100% accuracy.

This is all in the works for a Memorial Day unveiling. There are two project phases: the exterior and the interior. Initially the exterior will be completed for a hanging display (first the body parts, then the weapons). Then, perhaps a year later, they´ll take it down and build out the interior for ground-level display.

A brief history of the New Airwolf Mock-Up Project

More than twenty years after the advent of Airwolf and the show's original screen mock-up comes a re-creation that is true to the original. This new Airwolf is being commissioned for Halson's Helicopter Museum of Pigeon Forge, Tennessee.

It began when an associate of museum owner Dan Haynes contacted Steven W. Stull, Airwolf fan and craftsman of fine reproduction props. As he wanted to pay tribute to the Airwolf helicopter in some way, Mr. Haynes' associate sought to sell Steven's reproduction helmets and flight suits in the museum gift shop. Since the original Airwolf helicopter and filming mock-up had previously been destroyed by accident and post-show deconstruction, selling replica costumes seemed the best salute. Little did Mr. Haynes and his associate expect just how far Mr. Stull and his friends could and would help him improve upon that vision for a modest salute to the show by coming together to build a new Airwolf.

First, Haynes purchased a decommissioned Bell 222 airframe and components which had previously been scouted for this purpose by airwolf.tv's own Clark Van Hoten and Roy Nelson. The airframe would then be transported by truck to Stull's workshop in Dawsonville, Georgia to become the new Airwolf. Thus, on Thursday April 6, 2006, airframe serial number 47042, previously registered as N414WW, arrived at Mr. Stull's lakeside shop to begin the conversion. With access to original Airwolf plans and components and in collaboration with other subject matter experts, Steven began to create the first true Airwolf replica.

The mock-up's external modifications would be created with the use of Mr. Van Hoten's original Airwolf panels and in doing so the two paved the way for collaboration on future high-value projects. The wing mounted weapons were also based upon the originals and the rocket pod on Mr. Nelson's original show blueprints. Meanwhile, Kurt Srodzinski contributed precise, custom-made blueprints of the aft cockpit for a second development phase of the helicopter.

Initially, the Airwolf helicopter will hang from the museum ceiling at eye level with the second floor. It will be on display among other rare pieces, including the Army's prototype Commanche helicopter. After the museum's initial year, Airwolf will be removed to be rennovated internally by Stull, Van Hoten and Srodzinski. It will return as a floor-level display to show off the full beauty of the cockpit.

na the show was killed (for money problems) along time ago. and it costs to much to run a chopper like that for a show so it wont be back. but we can only hope.

like i said it costs to much run a bell 222A so i dont think so and i think they dont want nothing to happen to the new lady. but we will just have to wait and see what happens.

I remember the cluster of shows that came out around then, and they all dried up about the same time. (Blue Thunder, AirWolf). About the same time their was some research about locking the rotors down into a X configuration to allow a chopper to go supersonic, or nearer to supersonic. Did anything ever come of that?

Hello! I am brand new here and I picked up your website from doing a general search under the topic "Airwolf Replica".

Seems you are up there in the ranks!

I am Steven W Stull. I am the one recreating Airwolf to a carbon copy recreation. Dan Haynes found me as I make the Fully Functional Airwolf helmets and flight suits. He owns a large Helicopter service in Pigeon Forge Tennessee. Dan is just completing a huge Helicopter Museum that focuses on the history of helicopters. Nearly the size of a Home Depot this new recreation is being placed in the Hollywood Helicopter section. Dan Haynes had and provided me with a real full size Bell 222 A (same as Airwolf) and requested myself to make a full scale real Airwolf just as we remember her and take no short cuts! Airwolf has been reconstructed by myself and a close research and development team of people that saved the remaining parts of the real Airwolf and allowing me access to them. I have the real Universal Blueprints that built the screen used ship and this has built my ship. She is perfect and she is stunning in full scale and larger than life!. Please follow these links to give you a step by step build of the ship. She will be completely done in the next 2 weeks with weapons in full combat mode as we remember her. No short cuts here people. This was done one time and done the right way. In the history of the show Airwolf and past, Never has anything come close to this recreation of such a huge ship in the great detail and pain staking hours to do.

Yes on the Weapons! Dan Haynes and his crew are outfitting the Lady with her new display blades and tail rotors this week. She will look as if she can fly 100%. They are making the mounting brackets in which to hang her and from there suspend this week from cables Airwolf so she is about 40 feet from the floor on a downward decent in full weapons mode. The ship is hung first and I have the weapons on my bench now and 50% of the way completed. They will be painted to look aged and as if fired several times and then mounted on Airwolf. The ship will be 100% complete as we remember her. The were no close details overlooked.
With the close direction of the Airwolf.org croud as a back up... I had no choice!
