I can't get AntiVir software uninstalled

Hi I use AntiVir Personal Edition Classic on an XP 486 HP and while upgrade to the new ver 7 was unable to sucessfullly uninstall the old version. I have run the add and remove, done a manual uninstall, and even regedit and deleted sub keys then ran disk cleanup, defrag and regscrub. I keep my system pretty clean using spybot and antiVir with weekly maintenance. Is there anything else I can try before doing a system restore and reloading? I live in the boondooks and Dial up is the bain of my existence. Oh and I still run a FAT32 file system with XP (Old habits die hard I need my DOS).
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

I had this same problem. Searching for and deleting the "H+bedv" and "Hbedv" keys in the registry (I know you said you deleted the antivir keys, but those keys don't necessarily sound associated with it, so they would be easy to miss. Always be sure to export backups of keys before deleting them!), deleting the antivir program folder in c:\program files (forget exactly what it's called, but you should know it when you see it), clearing out start->run: "%temp%" (no quotes), and then downloading and installing the full version 7 executable from the web worked for me. I don't have an XP box at home, but hopefully my solution will help you.

Let us know if that doesn't work! I've heard of a few people having the problems with the auto-update trying to install version 7 automatically, I really wish they had decided to trust people and just have a pop-up telling them to uninstall Antivir from add/remove programs, reboot, and then download 7 from the web.

Thanks I'll give it a shot forgot the %temp% too. lol they probably are afraid of lawsuits if they let people add and remove themselves. there is an uninstall under prgram files though now that I think about it.
