I Can't See My Background.

I'm having problems setting a background image. When I go to display, I can't even click on the list of pictures. I had a problem about a week ago with some type of spyware/virus (not sure which). Anyway, my background turned blue with some sort of spyware/virus warning, can't really remember what it had written on it. I followed the steps to eliminate spyware and viruses and have since come up clean every time I run a scan. When I turn my computer off and on, my background image shows up momentarily, then it just turns black, or whatever color I have selected (yes, I can change the color, just not the picture, as I stated above, I can't even scroll through the list while in Display) Not a major problem, any help would be greatly appreciated
