My friend who helped me with my computer told me that i should get a defragmentor. Can you give me a little insight on what it is and what it does.I was searching for a disk defragmentator, and i came across diskeeper lite a while back..should i continue using this as a disk defragmentator?

I like Auslogics Disk Defrag, but more to choose from at " Drive Utilities" at http://www.majorgeeks.com/downloads8.html
    Your choice, of course.
Beware, the program will say it has found junk files and suggest you click on the link. IMO it is only a gimmick to get you to buy the $$$$ version. No matter how many programs I run for PC housekeeping (and I run up to 8 daily), it always comes up with around "400 junk files" for me. Ignoring that, the program is fast.

and to describe what it actually does, its like organizing a file cabinet to have your most used files towards the front so they are easier to find when you need them.

In the link I provided in Post #8 is the link to download IOBit, which I also love as a defragging app. http://majorgeeks.com/IObit_SmartDefrag_d5318.html

@Garbageman - the Windows provided defragger is not very effective or efficient. You are best choosing one from the link I provided in Post #8. Major Attitude also describes in that link why it is necessary to defrag and how your computer suffers and can become excessively slow if you do not.

you should also try a program called "Window washer" its not a defragging program but it saves you a lot of space on your hard drive it has saved me 600mb of space before

    (1) As NTFS writes to the drive, it may split up the files into fragments to best utilize available space. This is disk fragmentation and results in longer file access times. A defragmenter rearranges these fragments contiguously to improve disk performance. Please see this pdf for more information
    http://files.diskeeper.com/pdf/ImpactofDiskFragmentation.pdf

    (2) If your OS is Vista, please don't use Diskeeper Lite. It's not supported.
Incidentally, for Vista with the volume shadow copy service running, defragmentation in a VSS compatible mode (minimal file movement) is advisable.

    Hope this helps.

    Best regards:)
