OK I have my first virus in over 5 years (OK I'm sure I've some in the past but nothing big)

Normally I run some A/V and it is all taken care of but this one isn't so simple. When I first boot up my machine the background is gone, first sign something was wrong. Then I got a small dialog box that has one of those little keys you see with random letters and numbers in it asking to verify my machine. I also noticed my Automatic updates doesn't work. It won't run on its own or manually. I'm sure I got something from downloading too much crap (not porn believe it or not) and for once I need a little help.

I have a Windows XP SP2 machine. I have the newest PC-Cillin that updates and scans daily. When that didn't fix it I ran CCLeaner, NCLeaner, Asquared, Super AnvitSpyWare, turned off everything but Trend in my msconfig, I ran Norton Scan and Clean (I think that is the name, a friend just gave me it last night) and I'm still infected.

I'm pretty sure one of the things I have is virtumonde and if I could recover my scans I could tell you what else. I am at work right now so when I get home I will try to put in a screen shot or two and then I'll be able to run whatever programs you guys want and post the logs, just thought I would get a head start now.

    Thanks

    Welcome to Major Geeks!

Please follow the instructions in the below link and attach the requested logs when you finish these instructions. If something does not run, write down the info to explain to us later but keep on going. Do not assume that because one step does not work that they all will not. Make sure that you stop using MSconfig as requested in step 1 of the below guide or you will have further delay in getting help.

OK I will do that after work. Just FYI When I did msconfig I only turned one or two things off since I usually keep that pretty clean.

    Thanks

You should not be turning anything off! Everything should be on. Make sure you do what those instructions say and that is select Normal Startup mode.
