I tried to reply to the last reply on Spybot and was told I hadn't logged in when I had. then I was to do something or other to send it, but that didn't work. Just to let you know I tried!

I'm not exactly sure what you are trying to say. Your message is a little cryptic, but there should be no problems replying to any messages where you are the creator of the thread.

Further explanation: Twice now I've written my message, clicked send and been told that I wasn't logged in. I had logged in, but the program may have timed me out. I just didn't want to write the message over again. The message was gone when I re-entered the log-in.
To put what I said in brief: since you are all finding that the freeware Spybot still removes the malware it finds I think it may be my new computer not allowing Spybot to go ahead. I believe it was a download from Major Geeks. If not, then I did choose a safe site like Download.com. I do think it was Major Geeks. The download was done on Friday for my new (used) computer. I had decided to use it there instead of this old one.
There were serious malware problems with the computer when I ran detection programs. Spybot thankfully identified interference with updating security from Microsoft. There were at least 5 items that would block security updates.
Now that I've considered your reply further, I'm wondering whether the computer's malware was able to stop spyware from repairing what it found, in this case giving me a request for a key! I've never heard of that but all of you are using spybot without that request for a key. I know for sure that Microsoft updates were being blocked and Spybot identified that.
At this point, my best bet seems to be to completely clean off the new hard drive, get rid of it all, and reinstall Spybot since it's ok for all of you. I'm fed up with trying to clean the new computer and this will settle it....before I put other software on and have to start over.

When you log in to the forum if you tic the "remember me" box the system won't automatically log you out after a period of inactivity and you won't lose your post if it takes you a while to type it out. Another option would be to type your reply in notepad and then copy/paste it into the reply box then submit it.:)
