I have a question about Active X

I was running IE8 and was having trouble with it erroring out. So when it errored I would send info about the error to MS. It finally said it had a fix to go to a site for a fix. So I went and it said to update with MS, so I would do there check and I am all up to date with them. Then it said to shut down all add ons, so I went in and shut down what ever was running. Then it said to check for spyware, and I did that, to a high extent than they were thinking I am sure lol. Well now none of my sites that did work just fine won't load, I can't even go to my Yahoo mail. I remember something about Active X in the add ons when I was sutting them off but now there is nothing about Active X. Could it cause my pages not to load if I shut it off? If so how can I turn it on again or download it again?

I also after trying all of there fixes I went back to IE7 for Yahoo, tinking ok my Yahoo Mail does not work so maybe if I download IE7 FOR Yahoo then maybe it would fix it. but it did not. I have also tried Opera and FireFox but neither one of them worked either.

 

Ok I went to your site and removed IE 8 and rebooted and it did put IE 7 back on my pc and I did all updates to my pc but it is still not working. I wonder if it is the version of IE I am uesing that is the problom because it does the same thing in Opera and Fire Fox?

 

I am at a loss with this site. I do not have away to back up data and if I did I would not be sure just what to back up. AlsoI do not have a CD for windows my machine did not come with one. Sorry I am a novice at this. To answer your statement about the first post you made I did not install IE 8 my son did and it had worked fine for months. I did not even know there was a differance untill something asked me for the info. during the attempt to fix it. Please do not think I am trying to be ugly cause I promise I am not trying to be I am just lost with all this stuff.

 

TYTYTYTYTYTYTY the site you gave me said something about pop up blockers or ads and I went and checked and sure enough I had my skyscraper ads blocked. I went in and turned it off and everything works great now,dang firewall lol. Thank 100 times for your help
