    I have lost all bass

The sound was working properly and then when I tried to listen to music I noticed the bass was gone. I haven't made any hardware changes so I think it is a software problem. I am using Windows Media Center and it has an onboard realtek ac97 soundcard. I am using logitech 2:1 speakers. The only software I know I have downloaded was a windows update. It is possible I downloaded something else because I am not sure how long I have had the problem. I downloded the new soundcard drivers but there was no change.

    'Tis a long shot.

Click START, then RUN, then type in: mmsys.cpl (press enter).

Click Speaker Volume button. Make sure the Bass setting is set appopriately.

Click Advanced under Device volume. Make sure that the bass volume is set appropriately.

    DOes this help?

    Hi,
You might want to check to see if you haven't blown out the woofers by plugging your speakers in to the headphone jack on a portable CD or MP3 player.

I did not see a setting for "bass" I was able to find a subwoofer setting. I could change the volume on it but it didn't help. The mute button and blance is greyed out. Thanks for the suggestion.

How do I check that it looks fine to me. I don't use them with a CD or MP3 player. I did have it hooked up to the head phone jack on my small tv but not for very long.

I guess I shouldn't have been so literal when I said to "see" if you haven't blown out the woofers, I meant for you to listen to the sound coming from the speakers by plugging them in to any other audio source, CD player, MP3 player, stereo portable cassette, etc.

If the speakers sound OK when plugged into any other device then it's time for you to buy a sound card.

I plugged it into the tv and had the same problem. Guess I have to buy new speakers. Thanks for the help.
