I have lost all control of my system...

Let me start by saying I have been around for awhile and fought off most virus without issue but this time....:cry

I am at about my limits.... A few days ago my wife, my lovely beautiful computer oblivious wife, downloaded some tv show off of a japanese website on my work computer.....Needless to say this resulted in bad news and hours of malware battles on my part. I am very familiar with your guide and process for chasing down the baddies however...
THIS ONE IS NASTY!!!!
My desktop has been cleared entirely...no icons, no start menu no nuthin. I cant even ctlr-alt-del into taskmanager because my administrator has revoked that privilage!!
Not to be dicouarage I logged back in in safe mode to the admin acount and any program or operation I try to run gives me the same message. The "Choose the program you want to open this file".

I know that I am probably screwed and need to restart but I thought I would thow it out here to seen if maybe I missed something simple.

Also how concerned should I be about personal information that has been on the hard drive?

Can you get to the run box (Start / Run) in either normal or safe mode? If so, see if you can do the procedure at the following webpage.
