I have an asus notebook that is running windows 7 64 bit. When I play games that came with windows 7 try listening to music there is no sound. I have tried nvidia hd driver, realtek driver nothing. Even when I uninstall them and just use the generic driver nothing.

    ASUS N50V NOTEBOOK
WINDOWS 7 HOME PREMIUM 64 BIT
    INTEL CORE 2 DUO T5800
    INTEL CANTIGA PM45
    AMI BIOS
    NVIDIA GEFORCE 9650M GT VIDEO

    AUDIO ADAPTER
NVIDIA HDMI INTEL 82801IB ICH9 HIGH DEFINITION AUDIO CONTROLLER A3
    REALTEK ALC663 82801IB ICH9 HIGH DEFINITION AUDIO CONTROLLER A3

I have tried everything I can think of And I even tried locating a intel 82801IB ICH9 High Definition Audio controller a3 driver but no luck. I need some help.

    Hi

Do all other sounds work, like games, mp3s and video that are stored on your PC, and its just CD music that will not play?

If you are not playing a game and open Windows Media Player and pop in a CD does that work ok?

Check the volume control panel for any muted options, click the speaker icon in the system tray and then click mixer and see if the vol is too low on any or are muted.

Do you have any yellow ! marks in device manager and if so what?
Have you tried the Audio troubleshooter? if not then try it by going to Control Panel\All Control Panel Items\Troubleshooting\Hardware and Sound and click the playing audio option.

    Hi

Yes, go into Services (click Start and type services into the Start Search box and hit enter) then look down the list for Windows Audio and double click it and make sure its set to Started and its StartupType is Automatic, then click the Dependencies tab and make a note of all the other services listed and one by one check they are the same, Started and set to Automatic.

    Reboot and try again.

If not then its a case of uninstalling both Audio drivers you have and just install the Realtek driver thats listed for that model HERE

I checked services everything was automatic and started except for multimedia under dependencies. I started it then I rebooted my notebook and still nothing grrr this is nuts. I removed the drivers from the device manager for sound installed the realtek rebooted and still nothing wow. this is unbelieveable that its this difficult. Any more ideas?

    Hi

Do you have any yellow ! marks in device manager by any device?

Have you checked for malware on your PC, maybe worth scanning with your Antivirus and also with the likes of Malwarebytes and Superantspyware and do they find anything (dont need any logs) just need to know if they find anything nasty?
