I just realized something

The problem I had with my DVD drive (thread in Hardware) is the first problem I've ever had that I have admitted defeat on.

Thats shocking, I'm such a stubborn bad loser that I never give up on anything unless it's actually impossible and even then I'll exhaust all possibilities.

Am I going soft in my old age? :confused

Is this thread a well disguised spam post for your DVD thread?:p:-D Ya, I'm hard headed that way too.;) One doesn't learn when someone shows you the way and it works. I then promptly forget the fix.:-o If I :banghead at it for a couple of days and then ask for help, then at least I have some background on the issue, but then that's me. Oh, and if I find the fix on my own then I'll never forget it!;)

BTW, many things defeat me, especially Networking, which is my next subject to at at least get a drift on, and malware removal which I'll leave to the experts if I can't deal with it somewhat easily, thankfully I've been up to the task so far by doing the R&R.:)

lol I guess it does look a little like an add for my thread.
Actually it's not, I've had the mighty Halo helping me out and even he can't figure it, so what chance do I have lol

I just suddenly realized that I gave up and I'm kind of shocked, maybe it's because I'm grieving for my PS3 lol, not thinking straight :-D
I'm normally so incredibly pig headed, I believe man built the machine so man should control the machine and if the machine is doing something man doesn't like then the machine should submit to man. Or something like that lol

Having said that if you want to take a look :p
Careful though, there's a limit to how many Molsons I can afford ;)

Edit: Those Malware guys scare me lol, I've always been pretty good at getting rid of bugs but those guys in there could probably rid the world of desease if it was digital lol
And networking just annoys me lol, I can do it but I hate it, actually having some issues with my network now but I think my 12y/o modem/router setup might be the issue, new one on the way......well Bell said it would be a week, that was a month ago lol

Shameless I say!:-D However, I'll take a look. Hehehe, a 2-4 costs as much as new DVD writer.;) Going to take a look now as I'm having issues with one of mine.

    Of course I'm shameless, I'm English :-D

See, now I've posted this my interest has been sparked again lol, thankfully the missus is on that pc so I can't fiddle.

As for the 2-4, I'll buy but you have to supply the glasses....you know, just so we don't look like heathens :-D

Crap man, my gf just hates that when I drink from the bottle! I mean a measly 351ml size, give me a break!rolleyes It's not as if it's a 1.18L %10 alcohol bomb for you know who's sake!LOL BTW, watch out for those %10'ers eh? I know you grew up in blightey but that stuff is potent!;):-D Much more potent than an equivalent % bottle of still wine, it's in the bubbles!http://bestsmileys.com/drinking/2.gif roflmao

lol Yeah I used to drink Carlsberg Special Brew, 9% lager, didn't need many of those to get to the point of loving everyone :-D

I've drunk some nasty stuff over the years, good old chemical cider, 3ltr bottle for 3 pounds, 8.5% and very fizzy lol, gut rotter.
Snakebite that with Special brew and it would litterally take the top layer of varnish off the table if you spilt it :-D
people used to say I had a drinking problem, I used to say "No I don't, I drink, I get drunk....I fall down, no problem" :-D

LOL Ned. Me thinks we could have a good contest to see who goes under the table first!;)http://bestsmileys.com/drinking/2.gif :-D

Well, got to get dinner going as I'm the chief cook here with plenty of time and the gf is a nurse and works at the local hospital. I can't screw that lovely relationship up by being stupid eh?;) I may be on later.

lol Oh I'm sure I'd be down first, 7 years ago may have been different but I'm a lightweight now, means I get drunk cheaper :-D
But I never turn down a challenge lol

So you're the cook too eh?
I was then wondering what to make, I'm signed off work on docs orders atm so I guess I'm the one sitting around , so like you that means I have to cook lol

Catch you later, thanks for the help man, you're a star.

    God, is he ever!!

I'll be 58 in several months, :cry, some mornings I get up and some body part, shoulder, elbow, hip, etc., just hurts for no apparent reason at all! Typically goes away in a day or two, eventually to be replaced by some other ache!
I'd give my left anything to be 32 again, course that would be wierd 'cause then my kids would be older than me.:wave:wave

(Christ, this sounds like some conversation from the Senior Center).

    lol
Well I feel pretty old sometimes, not in mind but my body has taken so much abuse over the years lol

    Mind of a 16 y/o, body of a 60y/o :-D

I've decided that when I'm old I'm going to buy a tartan blanket, have my teeth pulled except 1, sit on my porch with a double barrel shotgun in a rocking chair laughing maniacally and shouting at passing kids "Git orf mah land, goo arn, GIT" :-D

For me it's weakness. I believe I can bring some back but that requires doing stuff. :-o I have always been small just over 100 lbs but there was nothing I couldn't move, given a little time and a lever. :-D Now twisting the cap off a jar feels like my knuckles are going to snap.
The older you are the faster time goes by, so don't put off anything your planning to do one day it just may pass by without you knowing.

I hear you there, I have lots of plans but I'm a bugger for putting things off.
Why do today what you can leave til tomorrow lol

Having said that in the past 5 years I have made some major changes and have new goals and dreams that I intend to chase until I have no chase left in me :)

Everyone had that opportunity, listen to their parents! Think about it,
    ok thats enough roflmao
How the heck are you Tim?

But if you knew then what you know now, would the things you knew then mean you know nothing now? Or would the things you once knew become useless information since the fact that you knew them then would negate the needing of knowing them now.

Or something to that effect ...... Ooo a candy bar :yum

Our parents never dealt with things we had to deal with, just as our kids are having to deal with new issues.

I am doing fine Darlene! Seems like you are also!! Other than our age afflictions. :-D We are now reverting back to the womb.
