I know what im doing... Wait... Whoops

Okay so i went over to my friends house yesterday and he was just asking me a simple question, how can i make it so that after my screensaver comes up it will go back to my logon screen and not just go back to the desktop, so i was like, ah easy, just go to screensaver options and check the little box password protect after screensaver... Well i did that but it failed it didnt want to work so was like hmmm, windows is having a problem, so i looked up the situation online and it said the cure was to do something in regedit so i tried it but the value was already correct so that was a fail, next it said that it was an issue with Windowsxp's that havent installed SP2 yet, so i was like okay easy. So i downloaded a XPSP2 installer and installed it, after that it asked to restart, and so i did, upon restart it gets to the windows boot screen but right after that WITHOUT an error it goes straight back to starting the computer again, so its like windows is booting then bam computer restarts again. It could be an endless cycle if i left it there. So now im in trouble, The computer DOES boot into safe mode and i can work from there but i have no idea how to fix the problem! Please help me! It is an incompatability issue with your friends computer. Since you can start in safe mode you have a few choices.

Boot into safe mode and try to uninstall service pack 2 from the add/remove in the control panel. Make sure the show updates box is checked. You could also do a system restore to a point before you installed SP2.

This will buy you some time to find the issue.

If those two options dont work you will have to do a repair install from his XP disk. He should have SP2 installed. Once you clear up this problem you have a few options but you had better save his computer first.
