I saw a commercial on t.v. that said visit www.finallyfast.com and it will make my computer run faster. I downloaded their program and it wouldn't even scan unless I bought an account. It took over 100 mb to install and when I tried to remove it with CCleaner it said that I lost 100 mb. What the heck. Where is the missing 200 mb? CCleaner said it deleted the program.

I wish you would have posted here before using their web site. We could have helped speed up your PC for free, and without any mystery misplaced megabytes. There may be some folders in the Application Data and the Local Settings folders. CCleaner doesn't clean anything from those folders and many apps frequently leave some stuff behind in those folders. It usually doesn't amount to 100-200mb though. So, open My Computer, open C:, and click on Tools at the top if using XP. Then click Folder Options, click the View tab, and scroll down a bit; check the circle for 'Show hidden files/folders' and uncheck the box for 'Hide protected operating system files'. Close My Computer and C: and click Start, click Search, click 'All files and folders' on the left (the 3rd green arrow), then click 'More advanced options' and make sure the top 3 boxes are checked. Then use the FinallyFast software name as the search term. I don't know exactly what the name of their software is, but it probably is simply 'FinallyFast'. Then select drive C: as the search location, and let it search. This should reveal the location of the mising mb. You can then just delete the files via the Recycle Bin once you're sure they aren't being used by any other software.
Good luck! I hope this helps! :-D

(you should also run the CCleaner file cleaner and registry cleaner once you're done with the above steps)

I searched the folder it came in "ascentive" and its empty. This is ridiculous. I should have never fell for that crap. It seems that somewhere is still a folder where all of the files that "it deleted" remain. What can I do?

yeah. There is only 33 MB under Application Data folder and 49 MB in Local Settings so there is no way that they are under that.

They are all fragments of lost data that said was found when my disk was scanned. There are over 300 of these folders going back as far as 2005 to the present. There pathname is simply C://Found.303 and 304 etc.

I also found a System volume information folder with a subfolder called _restore{0055A57B-B47F-42A8-B40D-430A72E6D638} that is worth 146 mb

the FOUND folders were there before I downloaded the program. My computer freezes a lot and I figure that those are the folder that contain the data lost when my computer freezes or something. You wonder why Im making a big deal over 200mb well my computer only has 853 mb on it right now.

The found folders are created any time the computer crashes, reboots and runs scan disk when it starts. I routinely erase these "file fragments" without a problem.

This is a problem, and is probably why you went to FinallyFast in the first place. Having a complete lack of free space on your hard drive will make Windows (and everything else) run slow. You should really consider uninstalling anything you having used in the past 2 months or so. Also, go to Add/Remove Programs and see how many Java Updates you have. At over 100mb each, I've seen some PCs with over 7 of these which takes up some space. Run a drive cleaner (CCleaner is popular; CleanUp is great and does a very thorough job). If none of this frees up some space, then you really need to consider getting a larger drive or maybe just burning some stuff from My Documents to a CD/DVD will help. Lots of people tend to stockpile pictures and music and videos and never look at 'em, and never remove 'em, and never move 'em to a CD. So a lot of space may be lost there. After you try these things, let us know how much space has been reclaimed and we'll see if there's anything else we can do for you. ;) Like I said earlier:
    Good luck!

I'm with dlb, if you were silly enough to spend money on this scam you should spend the next wad on somerthing practical like a new large hard drive. If your PC is a desktop (as opposed to a laptop) we can guide you thru the installation and you can keep your old drive as a slave so you don't lose your data.

Finally fast has been posted as being full of spyware and malware which would not be removed if you uninstalled the product. If I were you I would look to see if there is a class action lawsuit against these guys, or the station that ran the ad, that you could join. You might end up with a new computer instead of a larger hard drive. Run a bunch of adware removers and your anti-virus scanner, preferably from safe mode and see if you might have been infected by the download. You might be better off in the malware section at this point.

I saw finallyfast advertise and thought, "awesome, Im going to get that!" but first check with the computer gurus and make sure it's cool...
    I searched, found this thread...

So I want to speed up my computer, make sure it's running at optimal levels, etc. I'm positive there is a thread that says how to do that around here,, would someone post a link to it?
    Thanks so much!
